BEN KIEFER
PORTFOLIO MANAGER (Cornerstone)
Ben Kiefer has a natural ability to navigate the complexities of the contractor world with a strong mechanical inclination and desire to implement effective controls. He is skilled in managing teams, materials, and equipment, applying for the necessary permits, inspecting the quality of work done, keeping accurate records, and providing hands-on support on-site. Ben specializes in systems and process management with a heavy background in the construction and service industries. Ben has a keen eye for detail and is known for finding ways to make projects more cost-effective. He has the capacity to go in many different directions professionally and has a business acumen that complements his engineering abilities well.
Ben started his career working as a plumber for nine years, getting his plumber’s license at only 24. He took on a service management role at Go-Forth Pest Control for about seven years, where he worked in the Raleigh and the Triad Regions, leading a team of over 30 people. Ben's guiding principle is to investigate any signs of smoke, as he believes that where there's smoke, there's fire. He feels responsible for exploring the root cause of any issues that arise, no matter how small they may seem. He is currently working on getting his contractor's license through NASCLA, his South Carolina HVAC license, his electrical license, and maybe eventually his pilot’s license.
Interestingly, Ben went to college as a Music Major playing trombone, piano, bass, and guitar. He still enjoys music, playing at church services, and jamming out with his son who is a drummer. One of his greatest sources of pride is his son turning on Michael Jackson, The Beastie Boys, Elvis, or Bill Withers as opposed to more contemporary music. Nothing motivates him more than spending time with his family. He and his wife of 12 years enjoy watersports on the lake in Lexington. Aside from fishing and hunting with his son, he can be found engaged in personal construction projects and fixing up old vehicles. His natural talent for working with his hands and his unwavering authenticity have positioned him as a key player at CAP.
